We create places where architecture, landscape and everyday life become one.

Soft planes of warm plaster meeting at a corner, lit by low raking light.

Since 2009 VELORA has developed twenty-four residential addresses in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, London and Mallorca.

Each is authored with a single architect and a single landscape idea, and built to be lived in for generations.

Five principles, held in every development.

  1. Architecture

Every plan begins with the site: the path of the sun, the prevailing wind, the line of the view.

  2. Landscape

Gardens are planted first, and given the years a building needs to settle into them.

  3. Craft

Junctions are drawn at full size and resolved on site with the people who build them.

  4. Material

Stone, lime, oak and linen, left honest wherever they meet the hand.

  5. Experience

Judged by how morning light enters a room, and how quietly a door closes.

Tumbled limestone paving, its joints filled with fine sand.

Stone, oak, lime and linen, chosen for the way they weather.

Every surface is specified for how it feels underfoot and in the hand, and for how it will look in twenty years. Finishes are natural, and left honest where they meet.

A day at Casa Mare

  1. An infinity pool at first light, mist lying over the valley beyond its edge.

    06:40

First light on the water. The pool holds the sky before the house wakes.

  2. Midday sun breaking through sheer linen curtains in soft, moving patches.

    11:00

Rooms open to the terrace; the wall between inside and out is a sliding pane of glass.

  3. The terracotta edge of a pool, its water in deep shade beneath a wall.

    16:30

Deep overhangs keep the afternoon cool, and the stone underfoot stays pale and soft.

  4. The last orange light falling through a window onto a darkened wall.

    19:50

The house glows from within. Dinner moves outside, and the day ends at the water.

Dark open water at dusk, its surface catching the last warm light.

Architecture for the way life should feel.
